Nokia is the leading company with a 30% market share in the mobile industry. while apple maintains around 18% in the phone market share. The reason why apple is behind by this much, even though they have one of the best and most known phone in the world, because apple has only one type of phones which is the iPhone and it is also a high end phone that many people cant afford to buy meanwhile Nokia has 10s of models with ones that are for basic use and the with phones that target the normal user and finally the high end phones (smart phones).
So as you can see Nokia targets all the users not just a specific group of users like apple does. but that is gonna change according to new rumors that suggest that apple is working on a new phone which is cheaper and smaller in size but will feature the same screen size as the current iPhone and with the same experience regarding the touch screen and the multi-touch gestures. If these rumors are true then apple is planning to enter a new market that targets users that apple have never targeted before with there products in comparison to other companies.
further more there are new rumors that say that the new iPhone 5 will feature a bigger touch screen, a better ram and processor, and NFC technology (which is also rumored to make its way to the iPad 2) to enable the user to use there iPhones as a credit card. the iPhone 5 will feature a better antenna that will solve the problems of signal lose when held in a certain way and apple might change the material used to make the body to fiber glass and we may actually see apple discarding the home button and replaced by multi-gestures as seen in the iOS 4.3 1st beta version.
The new iPhone 5 is rumored to departure in june and hopefully with the new mini sized iphone that will pls all iPhone fans that cant afford to purchase the current iPhone.
